Do I need experience working in a Publix store or in the grocery industry to apply for openings at your corporate office?
If you meet the minimum requirements stated in the job posting that interests you, we encourage you to apply. Because Publix has a policy of promoting from within when possible, those who have experience working in a Publix store or other support areas within the company have an advantage over those who do not. Internal candidates have demonstrated understanding of our standards of excellence, our processes, and our culture. Furthermore, promoting from within allows us to recognize associates for their hard work, their willingness and ability to learn new skills, and their desire to build a career with Publix.
What is the best way to get my resumé noticed by a hiring manager?
Apply for one of our current openings. If your submission meets all of our required qualifications, it is delivered immediately to the recruiter or hiring manager for review.
Will I be contacted after submitting an application?
Once you apply for a non retail position, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a second email letting you know whether you meet initial required qualifications. Some candidates will receive an email inviting them to take an online test.
How can I get an interview if I am interested in a position at your corporate office?
Start by applying for one of our current openings. We typically receive a large amount of applications for each opening and invite a few candidates to interview. If you do not receive an invitation, please consider applying to other openings with our company.
What is the atmosphere at the corporate offices like?
We are the largest privately held supermarket chain and the largest employee-owned company in the nation, and we continue to grow. Our sense of ownership translates into a work environment where our many support associates, all working toward the same goal of continuing to provide premier customer service, are like a close-knit family. Our on-site cafeteria, which offers free hot lunches, provides a great environment for catching up with others on a daily basis.
What do you expect of someone who is invited to join your company?
Publix is a leader in the supermarket industry because our owner-associates have high standards and take pride in what they do. As you might expect, they prefer to work with others who have high standards as well and recognize that putting in hard work is well worth the effort. Therefore, to maintain our leadership position and positive morale, we strive to hire people who are:
Passionate about delivering premier customer service.
Driven to make things better for Publix and the communities we serve.
Energized by teamwork.
Motivated to think like owners.
Honest, dependable, and respectful of others and of Publix property.
Dedicated to cleanliness and other best practices in food safety.
Committed to keeping up with company communications and important industry trends.
Professional in their speech and actions.
Willing to do hard work to get the job done (for salaried associates, that means typically working at least 45 hours a week).
Can you share the name of the hiring manager for the position I applied to?
We are unable to share the name of the hiring manager so any documents, like your cover letter, can be addressed ‘Dear Hiring Manager.’ If the hiring manager has any questions regarding your application or qualifications, someone will contact you to discuss next steps.
Why haven’t I heard back about my application?
Our hiring managers review applications and, as you can imagine, this process can take a couple weeks. If you’re selected for next steps, the hiring team will contact you via the email address and/or phone number you put on your application so make sure you check your email and voicemails regularly.
My account has been locked out. Who can I contact to complete my application?
Our Employment Office team can assist you. Please give them a call at 800-242-1227 (option 5).
How do I hear about hiring events going on for distribution or manufacturing?
We share our distribution, manufacturing, and retail hiring events on our Publix Careers Facebook page. Follow us to stay up to date with upcoming events. Don’t have a Facebook? Feel free to reach out to our recruiters for additional hiring event information.
What internships do you offer each year?
We host an annual summer internship program. Positions are posted in February or March and department opportunities vary. We encourage you to review all postings when they go live to determine which best fits your qualifications and skills.
